Muscat, Oman

My quest to visit my 51st country led me to Muscat in Oman, a country in the Middle East, bordered by UAE, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and the Arabian Sea. Though we only had time for a short trip, Crowne Plaza Hotel Muscat has been the perfect base for day trips to explore the highlights of Oman and exploring the City of Muscat

After a short 20-min drive from Muscat International Airport, we were able easily find Crowne Plaza Hotel Muscat. Perched on a clifftop area in Qurum Heights, the hotel overlooks the gorgeous turquoise waters of the Gulf of Oman. We rented a car and looking for a parking space was as easy as counting 1 to 3. 

We arrived around noon and were able to check in early and were upgraded to Sea View Room with Balcony. Walking into the room we had a spacious bathroom with tub and shower including bathrobe and slippers, a mini-bar, tea and coffee maker, work desk and sitting areas. The balcony opened to the view of the property featuring 2 outdoor pools, tennis and squash courts and the breathtaking views of the the Gulf of Oman. 

We had our lunch at The Edge, just one of the four dining options in the property. It is right by the pool, offering an al fresco dining experience overlooking the private beach. The menu includes fusion of Eastern and Western dishes. Because it was Ramadan, The Restaurant served a scrumptious selection of food for Iftar. It was my first time experiencing the Holiday and by far was so impressed with the lavish options available. 

The two pools were so inviting and is lined by cabanas and sun chairs. Just down the stairs a private beach with palm trees can be enjoyed only by the guests. With the busy Holiday Season, it was nice to enjoy the water without the crowds. 

Crowne Plaza Muscat is close to the shopping area of Qurum, and the hotel offers free shuttle service to Grand Mosque, Muttrah Souk and City Center. We also did day trips and the property is less than 2 hours away from famous Oman sights such as Nizwa Fort and Bimmah Sinkhole, making it a great base while exploring the City and other tourist sights. 

Aside from the amenities mentioned above, Crowne Plaza Muscat also offers a fitness center, sauna and steam room, and complimentary Wifi in all areas. I was a little sad to leave as there were so many things we didn’t get to do while staying at this elegant seaside hotel. However, if there is another chance of me visiting the area, I wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel over again.
