Lisboa, República Portuguesa
Lisbon is one of the most charming cities I’ve been to, but if there’s a part of Lisbon which I consider my favorite, it will be the Alfama neighborhood. Despite climbing up and down hundreds of steps, there’s something about Alfama that just captivated me and got me to return twice in the short time that I was there. You’ll hear the sound of the old-fashioned trams coming every 5-10 mins, full of tourists. You’ll see colorful walls in warm colors, complemented by fresh laundry hanging out the windows. You’ll walk down narrow alleys lined with shops selling porcelain goods and brightly colored tiles. And at night, you’ll hear the beautiful sounds of Fado, while having fresh seafood for dinner. But the best parts of this neighborhood are the viewpoints where you can see the city from above. Trust me, it’ll take your breath away.
