Sintra, República Portuguesa
Approximately 28 kms (that’s only 18 miles!) from Lisbon lies a beautiful town that looked like it came out of a fairy tale. Aside from the 9th Century Castle of Moors and National Palace which served as a residence of the Royal Family, the most well-known stop is the Pena Palace. Atop a hill, you can clearly see yellow and pink towers and its beautiful mixed-style architecture, which is said to be an inspiration for Disneyland.
Despite my short time in Lisbon, I know I have to make it to Sintra. I only had half-a-day available so I decided to book a tour that will go inside the Pena Palace, with a stop at Cascais and Cabo da Roca. Because it was the weekend, I wasn’t surprised to see the traffic going up the mountain and line to go inside the town. It was crowded as it was in the afternoon. Yet, I was thankful that I still went, because I got to see this beautiful town.
