Cusco, Perú
In 2012, I had a chance to live in Cusco for 2 months and volunteer. It is relatively small, and the main mode of transportation for me was to walk. From our San Pedro house, it’s about 20 minute walk to our volunteer headquarters where I also took Spanish classes and another 40 minute walk to the orphanage where I spent most of my volunteering weeks. Sure I could have taken the “Batman” bus – a minibus – but walking kept me moving pre-Machu Picchu 4 day hike. And with lovely streets like these, walking made it more interesting.

You miss out on so much to see by taking the bus sometimes. I’d rather take 20minutes more and walk if it’s a reasonable distance (and the weather is good!). I love the background to these streets, it’s really beautiful.
I’d rather walk too, there’s soo much to see!
