San Francisco
San Francisco, CA
It took me 6 years of living in Southern California before I was able to set foot in San Francisco. I first thought of it as being too far of a drive and being to close to actually buy a plane ticket for. Little did I know that it will become one of my favorite cities in the world. These are some of my favorite photos.
I first moved to the Bay Area in 2010 for 3 months, in the East Bay, across the $6 per toll bridge, about 15 miles from the city. It was very brief, but it was a very significant time of my life. I had my first apartment, a 6-hour drive from home. I paid internet, rent, trash and sewage fees for the first time under my own name. It was also this time when I got to meet friends who would soon be a big part of my life.
I had another chance to live up north in 2012 and this time, I decided to live in the city and experience it for much longer. Yes, the rent is much more expensive, but I love my neighborhood. It was a small studio, my backyard was the city, the bay. I took French lessons, Pilates classes. Palace of Fine Arts, Ghirardelli Square, and Fisherman’s Wharf were all within walking distance. I stayed for 9 months and moving out was bittersweet.
